Adhunik fires up first unit of its 2 x270 MW thermal Power Plant.

Adhunik Power & Natural Resources Limited (APNRL), inaugurated its first unit of 2 x270 MW coal fired thermal power plant on 16th October 2012 at Padampur village of Saraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand.

The power plant was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Arjun Munda. Other dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony were Shri Hemant Soren, Dy. Chief Minister, Government of Jharkhand, Shri Champai Soren, Minister (Tribal Welfare & Transport), Government of Jharkhand and MLA, Saraikela constituency, Shri Santosh B Nayyar, Dy. Managing Director & Group Executive, Corporate Banking Group, State Bank of India, Shri J B Tubid, Home Secretary, Government of Jharkhand, Shri Vimal Kirti Singh, Energy Secretary, Government of Jharkhand, Shri A P Singh, Industry Secretary, Government of Jharkhand, Shri S N Verma, Chairman, Jharkhand State Electricity Board and Shri Avinash Kumar, Commissioner, Kolhan District. Many other dignitaries comprising of IAS officers and eminent personalities were also present during the inauguration.

At a brief ceremony, the Chief Minister began the inaugural function with lighting of the lamp, followed by a speech by Managing Director, Shri Manoj Kumar Agarwal. Mr. Agarwal congratulated all at Adhunik Group to have achieved such a milestone and making the event a memorable one. He expressed his gratitude to the Government of Jharkhand, the people of Jharkhand, the villagers and the police administration, without whose support and cooperation the event would not have been a successful one.

Appreciating the Jharkhand Government and its office bearers, Mr. Agarwal thanked them for their constructive support because of which the State has developed at such a rapid pace. Citing the example of Gujarat that has been adding power generation capacity rapidly, he said that with abundant resources, Jharkhand can also produce 25000 MW of power by the end of the 13th Five-year Plan and proudly claim to be a developed state very soon.

A Coffee Table Book (Seed to Grid), that includes the information about the journey from inception to operation of APNRL’s newly commissioned power plant, was launched during the one-day event. APNRL invited and felicitated guests from Padampur village and nearby areas who played a crucial role in this success story.

The programme came to an end with a speech from Hon’ble Chief Minister who highlighted that with Jharkhand’s rich reserves, we would soon become a power surplus state. He expressed his lasting support to the Adhunik Group, welcoming it to the state and thanking it for providing the people with the much needed power and creating employment for thousands of people in the state. He said that the government aims to add 8000 MW power generation capacity in the 12th Five-Year Plan of which 2200 MW will be available at a cheaper cost from power producers. The current power generation capacity of Jharkhand stands at 2100MW

Preparation for another 270MW is in full swing and expected to be commissioned soon. The Company signed an MoU for 1080 MW with Government of Jharkhand.
